A Touch of Charm: African Violet

A Touch of Charm: African Violet

There’s something timeless and utterly charming about African violets. Their velvety leaves, soft purple-blue blooms, and compact shape make them perfect for tabletop arrangements—and this display is a beautiful example of how something simple can feel so special. This arrangement brings a gentle pop of color to the table without overwhelming the space. It’s classic, elegant, and incredibly easy to recreate in your own home. They thrive indoors, making them ideal for home décor

The Arrangement Details

For this arrangement, I used a ceramic bowl, which instantly adds a sense of sophistication. The white finish contrasts beautifully with the rich greens and purples of the violets, creating a clean, fresh look perfect for spring or everyday elegance.

To add texture and a natural finishing touch, I tucked moss around the base of the plants.

You don’t need floral foam or any fancy tools here—each violet is still in its individual nursery pot and simply nestled into the bowl. This makes watering easy and helps keep the plants healthy long-term.

Care Tips for African Violets

These little blooms are low-maintenance with just a few key tips:

  • Light: They love bright, indirect light. Keep them near a north- or east-facing window.
  • Watering: Water when the soil feels dry to the touch—avoid getting water on the leaves to prevent spotting.
  • Humidity: African violets appreciate a bit of humidity. If your home is dry, place the bowl on a tray with pebbles and a little water (without submerging the pot bottoms).
  • Feeding: Use a balanced fertilizer monthly to encourage blooming.
